The idea largely stems from Queen Elizabeth II’s personal preference for neat, neutral shades – famously a sheer pink – because they were considered timeless and non-distracting. Over time, that preference naturally became an unspoken guideline – hence, the collective surprise at Princess Charlotte’s latest set.
Though in reality, the 10-year-old’s (turning 11 on 2 May 2026) nails are less of a rebellion and more of a very sweet shrug.
