For mature beauty buffs, finding products that glides onto eyelids easily without tugging or settling into fine lines can be a tricky task. Liquid eyeliner in particular often looks too stark or dramatic for every makeup looks, which is why cream products are the preferred option.
One brand that makes products specifically with older eyes in mind is Laura Geller, founded by its professional makeup artist namesake. The Swipe-n-Line Instant Eye Perfecting Stick is one of the beauty label’s most popular products, and it’s not hard to see why.
The Swipe-n-Line Instant Eye Perfecting Stick comes in seven shades, designed to suit every eye colour. The shadow sticks cost £22 on the Laura Geller website but are available on Amazon for as little as £15.48 depending on the colour chosen.

The dual-ended eye stick features a long-wearing cream shadow on one side and a smooth-glide liner on the other for easy application. Similar to Victoria Beckham Beauty’s EyeWear Longwear Eyeshadow Stick, £33, the shadows are designed to swiped onto the lid and blended to create a flattering eye look almost instantly.
The Swipe-n-Line Instant Eye Perfecting Stick features a long-wearing cream shadow that blends easily and resists creasing all day, making it perfect for a crease-proof look. Plus, the smooth-glide liner side stays put for precision and lasting wear.
Shoppers can pick it up in Toasted Brown/Rich Chestnut, Classic Onyx/Champagne and Warm Bronze/Copper. It also comes in Dramatic Sage Grey/Stormy Blue, Earthy Taupe Green/Warm Green, Glam Smokey Purple/Rich Plum and Smokey Charcoal/Shimmery Grey.

Alternatively, Debenhams stocks Kiko Milano’s Lasting Eyeshadow Stick in almost 20 shades for £9.59 instead of £11.99. The ultra-creamy formula delivers intense, luminous colour in just one swipe, blending and building seamlessly on the skin for a dramatic finish.
Back on Amazon, the Swipe-n-Line Instant Eye Perfecting Stick boast a four-star rating out of five based on more than 690 reviews. One satisfied shopper said: “This liner is the best. I am 72 and most eyeliner either smeared, went into fine lines or never straight. This one is so soft and smooth, applies so easily.”

A second wrote: “I’m definitely going to have some of this on hand from now on. I love the bronze for everyday wear and it has a darker colour for when I want more colour on the other end. It’s so easy to twist and apply.”
“These eye liners are the best I’ve found for aging eyes,” a third penned. “I find that cream liners, shadows work best for me and I grab them when a sale comes a long.”
One shopper, however, gave the Swipe-n-Line Instant Eye Perfecting Stick a three-star rating because the colour wasn’t as expected. It reads: “This didn’t meet my expectations. The colour was much lighter than I was expecting.”

“Good luck opening the right one the first time,” another three-star review mentions. “The only reason to give this awesome product less than five stars is because you can’t tell which colour is which unless you open all the lids. There should be some kind of colour indication like the other brands do. Otherwise 10 stars.”
But somebody loved their latest Laura Geller purchase, adding: “I am semi-retired, but had to go back into the office a few months ago, I needed a fast makeup routine. I have been using Laura Geller products off and on for a few years, but the eye liner/shadow combo is perfect.
“The colours are neutral enough, nothing to garish for this 64-year-old, and the matching liner is fabulous. After a certain age black liner is just too harsh. For my skin tone I have been using purple/grape colours, and these are hard to find, but this combo is perfect.”
Another five-star review reads: “I am a woman of mature age and this is my go-to eye liner/eye shadow. This eyeliner does not tug and goes on smoothly.”
