LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – Lawton’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 52-63 hosted a pair of community events centered on healthy living this weekend as a day of service.
The Post held a Community Wellness Fair and 5K run at the Lawton-Fort Sill Veterans Center, where organizers served cookies and iced tea and set up resources of all kinds for attendees.
The goal was to connect community members with the tools they need to live healthier lives.
“It really provides great awareness for Lawton Fort-Sill community on tools that can use to help keep us a healthier city,” said Chris Chambers, Post 52-63 trustee. “So we at VFW, we really pride ourselves on serving those who have served us and that’s what we want to do. Serve the community in that respect.”
This was their first Community Wellness event and Chambers hopes to hold more events like this in the future.
