Women in Business hosts spring self-care event highlighting local wellness vendors

CHEROKEE, Iowa (KTIV) – Members of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce held its Women in Business Spring Event on Wednesday, offering locals tools to decompress.

The event, called “Spring into Self Care,” aimed to treat women to a spring refresh, highlighting movement, women’s health, and a reset ahead of the Mother’s Day holiday, all from local businesses.

The event highlighted local businesses offering free massages, Pilates, and other services that help women take care of themselves.

Leah Niemeier, a member of Women in Business in Cherokee, said the group’s goal is to help women network and get out in the community to try different things. “We hope that they know that there are ways they can take care of themselves, you know, instead of feeling down in the pits. Do something that will make you feel good about yourself,” Niemeier said.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s just ahead of Mother’s Day. Throughout the month, KTIV will have continuing coverage of mental health in Siouxland.
