WASHINGTON— An event the first of its kind was a great success, as Main Street Washington hosted an inaugural EmpowHER Wellness Social at Libations on Iowa in Washington on Friday, May 8.
With a focus on elevating wellness and empowering futures, it was an evening created for the women in Washington for connection, education, and community support.

“This event truly started from a place of community care. Erin Kaufman, a local mom and small business owner, approached Main Street Washington with the vision for this social,” said Samantha Meyer, Executive Director of Main Street Washington. “”She then recruited Lexi Marek and Brandy Parsons to partner with us, and together, they really made this all happen.”
Instead of a standard admission, entrance was welcomed through a donation of hygiene products. This event doubled as a “Dignity Drive” for the Washington school district’s “Kindness Klosets.”
The high-need items included tampons, travel-sized deodorants, and neutral cleansers. The donations will be used to restock the Kindness Klosets for the next school year.
“We wanted to create a space where women could focus on their own health while making a tangible impact on the next generation,” Meyer said. “And thanks to this team, we ensured that local students don’t have to miss school or activities due to a lack of basic hygiene supplies”.
The EmpowHER Wellness Social served as a community “recharge station” while doubling as a “Dignity Drive” for the Washington school district’s Kindness Klosets.
There was plenty of knowledge to be obtained as attendees had the chance to visit eight Discovery Stations featuring local experts who provided education on a wide range of women’s health topics for an overall comprehensive look at modern wellness.
The Stations explored Metabolic Health, Genetics & Oncology, Pelvic Health, Breast Health, Strength & Habits, Yoga, Gardening, and Natural Living.

It was a successful first outing for the EmpowHER Wellness Social and with so much community support there are plans for holding this event next year on May 5.
