Hello again and welcome to this video. Today we will discuss your immune system and what you can do to improve your body immunity. This is especially important during those times when our immune systems are under attack, like during the Covid 19 crisis. So here we go with 10 tips to improve your health and your immunity…..
Many folks believe that taking a huge amount of supplements will boost your immune system and protect you against all kind of diseases. But if it were that easy then we would all be perfectly healthy, right? Unfortunately it’s not quite that simple, but it’s definitely possible if you are serious about your health.
So, now we know that improving your immune system takes time, which means you need to put a longterm health plan in place. And there are 3 areas you need to focus on – improving your sleep, reducing stress and exercising. You’ve heard this all before, right? But here are 10 good tips that will help you focus on these 3 key health and lifestyle changes.
#1 – Get at least 7-8 hours sleep a night, every night. This is the recovery time your body needs from all the stressful daytime activities. Consistent, good, sleep allows your body to heal and forms the building blocks and foundation of your good health. If your sleep gets off track, then recommit yourself to regular bedtimes and wake-up times.
#2 – Keep your circadian or diurnal rhythm from being disrupted. This is the day-night routine or pattern your body needs to function optimally. Getting enough sunlight is important, so make a habit of going outside for at least 30 minutes every morning to get some daylight and fresh air into your body.
#3 – Nutritionists recommend eating enough magnesium rich foods. This helps your brain and body to relax more and will make your sleeping hours more rejuvenating. Get a good dose of magnesium rich foods daily with your dinner, like nuts, beans and spinach.
#4 – Reduce the levels of the the stress hormone Cortisol in your body by eliminating negativity in your life. You can achieve this by starting the day and finishing it by thinking of 3 things that you are grateful for in your life. Gratitude gives you the power to keep away the blues.
#5 – Don’t let your daily tasks overwhelm you, but win the day instead. You can do this by focusing only on a few tasks everyday that you want to get done, and making sure you complete them. This is a great way to stay focused and reduce stress.
#6 – Live in the present moment as much as possible, instead of worrying about the future and what could or might go wrong in your life. This is a simple way that you can take control of your thoughts. It reduces stress and allows you to enjoy life, rather than dwell on negative or terrible things.
#7 – Exercise reduces the level of the stress hormone Cortisol in your body, and it strengthens your immune system by raising the levels of T cells in your body. This reduces inflammation and promotes good health. But be careful to keep a moderate exercise routine, because over-exercising can be harmful and break down the defences of your body.
#8 – Just 20-30 minutes of moderate exercise a day is all you need, but be consistent and your body will build immunity much quicker. Set yourself exercise targets and stick to a routine so that exercise becomes a part of your daily life.
#9 – If you are tired and stressed then the last thing you feel like is exercise. But force your body to move, even just in a moderate way and you will become a healthier person. Don’t push yourself too hard on bad days but don’t give up on your exercise routine either.
#10 – If you hate the thought of exercise then just go for a 30-60 minute walk every day. That way you combine your exposure to sunlight, fresh air and moderate exercise into a happy daily event. This is easy to do and is the most basic and beneficial immune-boosting routine that anyone can fall back on.
