👉TIMING YOUR VITAMIN D IS VERY IMPORTANT.
❌TAKING VITAMIN D BEFORE BED:
This is a BIG no, no.
📗SCIENTIFIC REASONING:
Vitamin D is INVERSELY (opposes) associated with melatonin. Melatonin is the MASTER sleep hormone. Taking Vitamin D in the morning will signal to your body that it is the start of the day, and can signal melatonin secretion later in the evening (Golan et al., 2013). Therefore consuming vitamin D before bed/later in the day, can in fact WORSEN sleep quality.
📚LOGICAL REASONING:
Your body is designed to get the vitamin D it needs by producing it when your bare skin is exposed to the SUN. The sun rises in the MORNING, and slowly fades at NIGHT. This is a way of synchronising the body’s circadian rhythm that it is morning time, time to wake up. If you seriously think that consuming a Vitamin D supplement before bed-time is a good idea, you are simply signalling to your body it is morning time.
▶︎ PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
“After I started supplementing Vitamin D at night alongside my magnesium, I wake up 3-4 times per night. Then when I switched my dosage to the morning, this problem disappeared” – Reddit User.
