A new fitness studio is hosting its grand opening in Ballston starting today, offering free classes and discounted annual memberships.

Barre3 opened its doors for the first time at 818 N. Quincy Street at 6 a.m. today (Friday). The studio is providing free classes through Sunday and “unlimited” founding memberships at a heavily discounted rate.

A press release promises a “familiar mix of strength training, cardio and mindfulness ” in the renovated space, with class props such as core sliders and circle resistance bands and amenities including child care, a water fill station and a retail shop.

“Barre3 Arlington is about functional fitness,” said studio owner Amy McNamara. “The carefully curated strength and core exercises will help you feel your best in your everyday life.”

Popularized in the mid-20th century, barre evolved from ballet exercises. Participants use a ballet barre to complete a combination of exercises that focus on the lower body and core.

The studio will offer a flexible class schedule that includes the brand’s B3 Signature workout: an “ultra-effective, all-in-one combination of strength conditioning, cardio, and mindfulness,” according to the brand’s website.

Other offerings include the B3 Strength and B3 Cardio workouts.

Participants must pre-register online for classes, which are offered daily from 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Each class is about 45 minutes long.
