It’s the downside of having so many popular vitamins and supplements on the market, most of which are positioned to target wellness needs for which products previously haven’t existed. But, it’s important to understand that supplements and even many vitamins are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration…and as a result, 18 brands of popular vitamins and supplements have reportedly made a production misstep.
On Thursday, the Washington, D.C.-based Consumer Protection and Safety Commission (CPSC) published an advisory for an international recall on around 356,140 products they say were sold between April 2023 through February 2026 via the following: Credo Beauty, Erewhon, Healf, Nutrition World, The Vitamin Shoppe, Fullscript, Ulta Beauty, medical practitioners’ offices, brands’ websites and Amazon.com.
The reason is that the products contain iron, which requires child-protective packaging. “The packaging of the supplements is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children,” the notice reads.
Recalled products are listed as the following, several of which are mainstream brands with dedicated fanbases and subscribers:

The notice states consumers “should immediately store the supplements out of sight and reach of children and contact Vitaquest International for information on how to obtain a free child-resistant replacement cap or storage pouch.”
To be on the safe side, Harvard University experts have suggested selecting a vitamin bearing the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) seal of approval on its label. This seal guarantees that the multivitamin contains the ingredients and the amounts listed on the label.
