AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo Parks and Recreation announced the city is getting a new outdoor Fitness Court at John Ward Memorial Park, and they are calling on local artists to submit their work for the project.
The city is partnering with the National Fitness Campaign to install this new fitness focused park feature.
The Fitness Court is designed to provide a free, outdoor, full-body workout in seven minutes, according to their website.
It features seven zones: core, squat, push, lunge, pull, agility, and bend. These Fitness Courts are located across the country, and each one also functions as a “work of art” featuring a local artist’s work.
The City of Amarillo is looking for digital artwork to be featured on the upcoming court’s multipurpose training wall.
Those wanting to submit must be at least 14 years old and they must live in Amarillo.
Submissions need to be emailed to the Beautification and Public Arts Coordinator, Cindy Perez, and the deadline is 5 p.m. May 8, 2026.
Full details about submission requirements can be found here:
