The Government of Kosovo has held an electronic meeting where it approved the decision to amend and supplement Government Decision No. 24/11, dated April 20, 2026, on the appointment of members of the Commission for the Jurisprudence Examination, according to the announcement of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The European Union Office in Kosovo has recently expressed concerns regarding appointments to the Bar Examination Commission, addressing the Speaker of Parliament Albulena Haxhiu through the acting head, Eva Palatova.

In the official letter, the EU emphasizes that these developments raise questions about the independence and impartiality of the justice system, as well as respect for the principles of the rule of law.

According to the EU, the Government’s decision to appoint new members to this commission should not prematurely terminate the mandate of the current members, raising dilemmas about the constitutionality and legality of this action.

The head of the parliamentary group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Besnik Tahiri, said that the Government was seeking a new commission for the Bar Exam, requesting that it consult with lawyers so that the Government is not allowed to take unconstitutional actions.
