Cloudstate, a health and wellness platform for young women, has acquired Girlhood, a community-driven platform for Gen Z connection. The deal expands Cloudstate’s reach and combines its physical and emotional health expertise with Girlhood’s established peer community, creating what the company describes as a first-of-its-kind ecosystem designed around emotional safety and belonging rather than correction or comparison.
Girlhood brings an immediate audience of 86,000 followers, 8 million views, and a global volunteer base of 200 girls across seven continents. The platform, founded four years ago by Sophia Rundle and Mia Sugimoto while both were still in high school, focused on peer connection, storytelling, and access to reliable resources for young women. Rundle will join Cloudstate as Head of Brand Experience, leading programming including Unpolished, a forthcoming podcast, and Unpolished Live, a relaunched version of the company’s Girl Talk Live series, which has grown 300% since its inception. The relaunch is scheduled for May 17, 2026.
The acquisition advances Cloudstate’s broader mission to challenge cultural standards that frame girls as problems to be fixed, instead building a platform centered on confidence and belonging. Where traditional social platforms optimize for content and comparison, Cloudstate positions itself around guided support, expert-backed resources, and peer camaraderie tailored specifically to the needs of young women navigating physical and mental health.
KEY QUOTES:
“The success of our programming is not a testament to clever marketing, but to a generation of girls who finally feel seen, heard, and supported in a space specifically built for them. With the acquisition of Girlhood, we are doubling down on our commitment to creating safer spaces where she can understand her body, strengthen her mind, and feel less alone.”
Meg Smith, CEO and Founder, Cloudstate
“Every girl has a story, and Girlhood gives them a chance to share it. By joining Cloudstate, we can now scale that mission, providing even more meaningful resources and a global megaphone for the issues that matter most to us. We aren’t just building for her anymore; we are building with her.”
