Bemidji's new Ulta Beauty opens May 1

BEMIDJI — Ulta Beauty is set to open on Friday, May 1, in Bemidji’s Westridge Shopping Center.

According to its website, the new store will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for the grand opening. On Sunday, May 3, it will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 4.

Ulta, headquartered in Bolingbrook, Illinois, is an American chain of cosmetic stores that carries a wide range and price point of cosmetics, fragrances, nail products, bath and body products, beauty tools and haircare products. Each location also has a beauty salon available to the public.

The business is located in one of several retail spaces created in the former Marketplace Foods building, following the opening of

Sierra in March

and Maurices in November 2025, after relocating from the Paul Bunyan Mall. Bath & Body Works is also planning to relocate from the mall next door to Maurices in the coming months.

Marketplace Foods

closed on Aug. 21, 2024,

leaving a large void in the Westridge Center. Lueken’s Village Foods took over the convenience store and gas station from Marketplace.

Ulta Beauty was founded by Terry Hanson and Dick George in 1990 with the opening of five brick-and-mortar locations in the suburbs of Chicago. As of early 2026, the chain has more than 1,500 stores in the United States, making it the largest specialty beauty retailer in the country.
