Inside Biotech: EZZ taps viral ingredient trend with MeTime wellness launch

EZZ Life Science Holdings Ltd (ASX:EZZ) is targeting the fast-growing consumer health space with the launch of a new women’s wellness range built around clinically studied botanical ingredients and a growing global trend in “functional” supplements.

The Australian genomic life science company on Monday unveiled MeTime, a multi-product range targeting areas such as stress, sleep, metabolism and hormonal balance, with initial distribution set to roll out through pharmacy channels in the coming months.

At the centre of the launch is Hunger Helper, a weight management formulation combining Morosil® — a standardised extract derived from Moro blood oranges — with glucose-modulating ingredient Reducose®. The product is designed to support appetite control, positioning EZZ to capture demand in the increasingly crowded but high-growth weight management segment.

Morosil® has gained significant traction globally in recent years, driven in part by social media exposure, and is backed by clinical data. A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 102 participants found daily supplementation over six months led to statistically significant reductions in body weight, waist circumference and hip circumference compared with placebo.

While the supplement market has long been driven by marketing claims, EZZ is leaning heavily on evidence-based positioning as it expands its portfolio.

Clinically backed positioning moves to the fore

The MeTime range has been formulated as a series of multi-ingredient products designed to target underlying physiological systems rather than single symptoms — an approach that has become increasingly prominent across the global nutraceutical sector.

Alongside Hunger Helper, the initial lineup includes:

Corti-Calm, targeting cortisol regulation and stress balance
Muscle Relief Magnesium, a high-strength formulation focused on recovery and relaxation

EZZ said the products are built around ingredients selected for bioavailability and synergy, reflecting a shift towards more sophisticated formulations in consumer health.

“Our focus is on building products supported by credible research and high-quality manufacturing standards,” EZZ general manager Sarah Lawman said.

European partnership underpins ingredient pipeline

Supporting the launch is a new ingredient partnership with Italian botanical specialist Bionap, which brings more than three decades of research and production expertise in plant-derived compounds.

The agreement gives EZZ access to Bionap’s portfolio of patented, standardised extracts, including Morosil®, as well as a pipeline of ingredients targeting areas such as metabolism, cognition and cardiovascular health.

Bionap’s emphasis on traceability and certification also aligns with increasing regulatory and consumer scrutiny around supplement quality — an issue that has gained prominence as the category expands.

Lawman said the partnership reflects a broader push towards science-led product development.

“Bionap’s research depth and patented botanical extracts align strongly with EZZ’s science-led philosophy,” she said.

Pharmacy rollout and digital push ahead

The MeTime range has launched initially via a dedicated online platform, with a broader rollout into major Australian pharmacy partners expected within the next month.

EZZ is supporting the launch with a combined digital and traditional marketing campaign, aiming to build brand recognition in a category where consumer awareness and trust are key drivers of uptake.

The move also reflects the company’s broader omnichannel strategy, which spans e-commerce and physical retail across Australia and international markets including China.

For investors, the launch marks another step in EZZ’s push to translate its genomic and health research focus into commercial consumer products — a strategy that increasingly blends biotechnology, wellness trends and retail execution.

With demand for personalised and functional health products continuing to build globally, the success of MeTime will likely hinge on how effectively EZZ can differentiate its science-led positioning in a highly competitive market.
