GUILFORD — The Recovery Wellness Community Center of Sangerville was recognized as the Valley Grange’s 2026 Community Citizen of the Year, with the award presentation taking place on the evening of May 15 at the Grange Hall with an estimated 50-plus people in attendance.
The Recovery Wellness Community Center, located at 20 Douty Hill Road, is a community-driven, non-profit center founded in 2024 to support individuals affected by addiction.
GUILFORD — The Recovery Wellness Community Center of Sangerville was recognized as the Valley Grange’s 2026 Community Citizen of the Year, with the award presentation taking place on the evening of May 15 at the Grange Hall with an estimated 50-plus people in attendance.
The Recovery Wellness Community Center, located at 20 Douty Hill Road, is a community-driven, non-profit center founded in 2024 to support individuals affected by addiction. It provides a safe, sober space offering free services including peer support, All Recovery meetings, Narcan training, and career exploration.

“What an amazing evening at the Valley Grange #144 where they presented the Recovery Wellness Community Center with their Community Citizens Award,” center Development Coordinator/Co-Founder Barbara Skinner wrote on the center Facebook page. “The center also received recognition from the State of Maine Senate and House of Representatives. Georgia, Alan and I are beyond grateful for the award and recognition as well as all the wonderful words from our community. We love what we do and the amazing community that supports us.”
The Recovery Wellness Community includes Executive Director/Co-Founder Georgia Underwood and Program Manager Alan Burgess.
A Legislative Sentiment recognizing the center was sponsored by Sen. Stacey Guerin, R-Glenburn and presented by County Commissioner Paul Davis with Rep. Chad Perkins, R-Dover-Foxcroft and Jamie Kane assisting.
