Flax
Lignans are phytoestrogenic flavonoids that have the ability of balancing hormone levels in women with PMS approaching menopause. Because of its content of unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseed oil is used to improve cholesterol levels.

Flaxseeds provide good amounts of healthy fats and dietary fiber, as well as important nutrients such as vitamin B1 (thiamin), copper, manganese and magnesium. Flaxseeds sprouts contain fiber and more easily absorbable nutrients, such as omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and manganese.

A new study has added further evidence that flaxseed lignans can affect circulating hormones for anticancer purposes in postmenopausal women.
