Survivor 50 - Next Time On Survivor - Episode 11

Welcome to Season 50’s Next Time On Survivor weekly feature on the Inside Survivor site! If you’re new around here, I’m Steph from sunny, tropical, humid Singapore. This is a tiny space where I give my best attempts at understanding preview trailers and make my predictions for the show’s next episodes.

In both the NTOS and promo trailer, we see players blown away by last episode’s tribal council, where the prize money was doubled to $2 million. We won’t be able to measure whether this changes anyone’s strategy, but I’m sure we’ll hear lots of confessionals reminding us about the $2 million.

Rick elatedly prances around, celebrating his big win in the NTOS trailer. By calling the Mr. Beast coin toss, he earned himself immunity last episode and gained an immunity idol for future tribal councils. While this was great for saving Rick from being the clear target, it’s a very short-term solution, and I think he’ll likely get voted out the moment he doesn’t have immunity.

Next, for probably the first time this season, we see Cirie looking concerned as she says, “I go into panic mode.” So far, she has been calm and collected, deftly changing voting plans to protect her allies, Ozzy and Rizo. It has been working out well for her—we haven’t seen her stress out much or turn as alarmed as what the preview suggests. Even when her name was thrown around as an alternative possibility, it wasn’t that impactful on her.

Thus, I think we’ll see Cirie pushed to a corner this week. Maybe Ozzy and Rizo win immunity, making her the only one in their obvious alliance eligible to receive votes. There might also be a new twist introduced that’ll change things up, so I’m curious to see how Cirie navigates this, and I wonder if Ozzy tearing up in the NTOS trailer is linked to whatever’s going to happen to her.

Moving on, Emily tells Tiffany, “I can convince him to play it on me.” She may be referring to Rick, Rizo, or Ozzy and their immunity idols. I doubt Ozzy trusts Emily enough for her to suggest this. And even though Rick claims to be all for the chaos, I don’t think he’ll give up his guaranteed safety either. Thus, I believe Emily’s referring to Rizo. However, I can’t see Rizo giving Emily his idol either, as he’ll want to save it for as many tribals as possible, repeating what he did in Survivor 49. I can see him, as the superfan he is, citing an observation that it’s extremely risky to play your immunity idol for someone you cannot fully trust.

Finally, Aubry pitches to Joe, “It’s the biggest moment in the game, it’s now or never.” It’s quite the hyperbole there, but they’re definitely plotting a blindside and probably broaching something new that hasn’t been brought up in past episodes. With nine players left, it’s going to be motivation for people to make bigger moves, especially in front of the jury. Maybe they’re trying to blindside someone with an advantage? Or targeting a huge threat like Ozzy or Cirie?
