No lunks allowed at a new Planet Fitness gym set to open in Randallstown by the end of the year.
Franchisee Ohana Growth Partners has leased 16,600 square feet of space for the fitness center in the former Rite Aid store in the Liberty Court Shopping Center.
“We are delighted to further invest in Baltimore County, where we are based, and bring the joy of fitness to the Randallstown community, which has been underserved for so long,” said Justin Drummond, president of Ohana Growth Partners.
Construction on the fitness center at 8634 Liberty Road is expected to begin by June, with the gym slated to open by year’s end.
Planet Fitness is known for offering a space for gymgoers to exercise their bodies and minds free from judgement or intimidation by so-called “lunks,” which the company characterizes as people who are overly loud, aggressive, or showboating during their workout.
All members will have access to strength and cardio equipment, numerous flat screen televisions to view while they work out, and free fitness training to help them reach their health goals.
There will also be a spa available for use by Planet Fitness Black Card members.

Of Maryland’s more than 50 Planet Fitness locations, over 30 are franchised by Ohana Growth Partners.
The Randallstown gym will be the franchisee’s seventh location in Baltimore County, joining Planet Fitness centers in Timonium, Catonsville, Golden Ring, Towson, Perry Hall and Reisterstown.
The county also has a Planet Fitness in Dundalk that is not franchised by Ohana Growth Partners.
